See you there... xx

Our next gig, at The Cube!

We are really looking forward to this gig! Tickets available from the Here shop or the Bristol Ticket Shop. Yes!

BCFM live session

Well, Cat Green Bike's all-new four-piece had a lovely time on David Miles' Cup Of Tea And A Piece Of Cake show on Monday. The show went out at 10pm on the 17th of September. We've cut it down and posted our bit on the Soundcloud page. We start off with a three-part vocal piece called Gone To Get Geese, straight into our new and imaginatively titled track 'House'. We then chat for a bit about the new members and gigs and such and forth, before finally finishing off with our other new song 'Mirror' (again, working title). If you have a spare 13 minutes of audio time... enjoy!xxx

Don't forget this gig; THIS WEDNESDAY. Only £5 if you reserve your tickets through us... We'll be a new, never before seen, 4 PIECE Cat Green Bike! See the Facebook event page HERE. You'll also be able to buy our new badges at this gig!

On another note, we also have a Bandcamp page, so you can buy our music. Yey!

Extra special gig at The Fleece, Bristol

Hello you lovely people. We are playing at The Fleece in Bristol on Tuesday the 21st of August and it is a very special gig for us. Basically it is the gig that gets us more gigs (to support lovely big bands at the Fleece) and therefore we need as many of you to come as is humanly and coercively possible. If you only ever come to one Cat Green Bike gig, please come to this ones and I will love you forever. Tell your friends, tell your loved one, tell your cats. If you don't live in Bristol or can't make it down, please tell all your friends who can. Maybe even buy them a ticket as a gift?

Now, the tickets are £5 (we're so sorry), however, to ease this expense and to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU for coming to the gig; you will receive one of only 50 handmade-packaged CDs that are only available by buying a ticket to this gig. IT WILL BE A ONE OFF AND VERY SPECIAL with lots of bits and things and stuff. We will also be playing new - never heard before - songs!

If loads of you come along and cheer us loudly then we will get to play bigger and better gigs. I'll give you a code word on the night to use in every future communication with us which will give you extra special treatment and discounts and free things and whatever else I can do for you.

Tickets are available in person from me and Joe, or through the paypal button on the left there. Click that and it will take you through the process.

If you are not on Facelob and would like to be added to the Cat Green Bike email list please email catgreenbike@hotmail.co.uk proclaiming your wishes to do so

I will be playing here; naked.

Secret Garden Party...

...was wonderful. Thank you to all you beautiful people who were so complimentary; It's all for you. And thank you also, to you, Sir. My fret fingers are itchy...

Cat Green Bike plays The Arts House, Stokes Croft

The Arts House starts a new music night in its basement this evening. A bill of nice, strange music will be presented to you, free of charge. There are sofas too. It will go, approximately, as follows...

We will commence the musical proceedings at nine o'clock with Squeeze Me Macaroni - Hauntingly beautiful looping guitar and vocal melodies.
We then give you The Big Hello - God only knows what the Actual Bird boys will give us this evening, and he doesn't even exist
Finally we will top off the evening with Cat Green Bike - Ukulele and singy singy.

It's free fun. Bring your friends.

x

P.S Myspace is shit. I'll get a website soon to put up gigs.

Epic45's celebration 7" is out now, and guess who's on it? Yep that's right, the pope himself. Cat Green Bike does backing vocals on side two's Depeche Mode cover 'Any Second Now'.

You can listen to it HERE!

Congratulations to Rob & Ben for 10 years of excellent releases. Long may they continue...

Cat green bike plays the Hay Festival on the 29th of May

Well, I'm delighted to tell you that I will be playing the Fair on the Square stage at this year's Hay Festival on the tip of the Brecon Beacons. I'll be playing at some point in the afternoon (which I will enlighten you to once I know) of Saturday the 29th of May, which is less than three weeks away (at the time of writing). You can see the event on the Facelob Here and find out more about the Hay Festival Here. It seems that Myspazz has twatted out and is not displaying gigs on the profile page anymore. If anyone can alert me as to why, please do so. Right, I'd better get my fingers and vocal chords into shape...

Cat Green Bike is now complete with cat

Cat Green Bike now has her very own cat! Needless to say she is very happy indeed. His name is Lyell, or to state his full name; Lyell Lendalino Franka Libya. Those after whom he has been named know who they are.

In gig news; CGB has been chosen as one of 10 Bristol bands put forward by BBC Bristol Introducing to play the BBC Introducing stage at this year's Wychwood festival in Cheltenham. Seven regions have asked to choose a total of 70 bands, out of which a final 28 will be chosen to play the festival. Successful bands should be told by the 7th of May. If I'm lucky, I'll let you know. I may, it seems, also be playing a very exciting festival at the end of May, more details on that when I am allowed to divulge them.

I will be playing a few charity gigs in the coming months, including a fundraiser for six Sustrans staff (including my housemate Rachel) cycling the Coast & Castles Challenge Ride this July. I'll let you know the date of the fundraiser as soon as I know.

Talking of charities, I have decided that from now on a proportion of each CD that I sell will be donated to three charities. They are;

For 'Cat': the Bristol & Wales Cat Rescue (who are responsible for the lovely Lyell)

For 'Green': the excellent mental health organisation Mind who's existence and advice have helped me a great deal in the last nine months

and for 'Bike': my local volunteer run Bristol Bike Project which is run by lovely people for whom I hope to start volunteering soon.

Well, that is a lot of things. I shall leave you now, and go and play Zither to my cat.

What Are You Doing Pudding?

I've made a new CD. It is called What Are You Doing Pudding?

It has live recordings of Rough Cut For A New Disco and 14,610 from David Miles' Cup Of Tea & A Piece Of Cake show on BCFM. It also has a Zither version of Babybird's You're Gorgeous, as well as the now heckled-for Loco-motion. It also has the preliminary recording of Smashed To Shit. I have gotten a bit sweary it seems.

This one is an edition of twenty four. Each are hand-made as usual and as you can see, this set have been painted. If you would like one, come to a gig and harass me, or send an email to catgreenbike@hotmail.co.uk and we'll arrange a sending through the postage. They're the same pay-what-you-like deal as before. For reference purposes (whatever they may be), below is an example of a few...

Thank you to everyone who came along to one of the tour dates. It was a lot of fun and helped me a great deal. I think I'll just have to do more of it.

We're going on tour, WOO!!!!
We start off on Saturday 7th at the Sanctuary Cafe in Brighton with the lovely Bridie Jackson and the most excellent Fiona Sally Miller, a gig put on by the Urban & Eastern label. We then move on to Cambridge on the 8th to play as a 'featured artist' at the Corner House open mic night. We then have a small break to get drunk and recover in Norwich for Joe's Birthday before playing at the Adam & Eve in Birmingham on the 12th. We then play in Newtown, Wales on the 14th and finish off at the wonderful Bridges open mic night in Shropshire on the 16th if we're not dead by then. In between we'll be playing house gigs, open mic nights and the streets. We hope you can join us!

The wonderful Rose Turtle Ertler has put together "the ukulele player's perfect recipe book! At last you can cook culinary delights submitted by twenty six ukulele players from all around the world." It's got my banana cake recipe in it. It's ace of course.

To get the book you can either email Rose herself at roseturtle@gmail.com or go to Ukulele Land and get it with your PayPal.

To hear more of Rose go to her Myspace page. You can get her excellent latest Solo album "All For One From Now Til Dawn" from ITunes. She is well worth checking out. As is the amazing Wisdom Tooth.

Autumnal Tour

Hello lovelies,

Joe & I are currently booking an Autumn/Winter tour in early November.

If there is a particular city/town or venue you would like us to play, please do send us your suggestions. Any offers of floor space would also be most greatly appreciated...

xx

Cat Green Bike is now on Twitter

Yes, Twitter. Its fruits have not yet made themselves apparent to me. I have only joined so that I can stalk the quite wonderful David Mitchell. If you know where he lives, or drinks, please pass this information on to me so that I may begin a campaign of doting adoration that leads to an inevitable restraining order.

Radio broadcast, Birthday gig recording, and July festival; lots of things, nearly there.

Hello you,

I did a live radio session on my local BCFM recently. A copy of that will be ready soon I am told. As soon as I have it in my hands you shall have it on your interwebs. I played Palm Tight Pass, Rough Cut For... and answered some questions. I haven't heard it back yet. Apparently I started talking about boiling broths.

Thank you to all of you who came to my birthday gig. It was jolly special fun. Thank you to Lee, Oliver, Rob, Eric, Tom and Jack for playing and to Gavin for providing excellent projections, and for our excellent sound guy. There will be a recording of that gig on here very soon, as soon as Rob sends me the files.....(!!)

I hope you all liked your banana cake. You can find out how to make your own by getting Rose Turtle Ertler's new Ukulele recipe book. That'll be finished very soon. I'll let you know when.

And finally, I'll be playing the Bridges all day festival on the 25th of July in Shropshire land. The wonderful people who run and frequent it are celebrating five years of putting on music. It is also the launch party of the new Shared compilation. It's in the arse end of nowhere, which is EXACTLY why it's worth getting to.

I do hope you are all well and that the weather is keeping you in jubilant spirits... xx

Cat Green Bike at Ukelear Meltdown II

Ukelear Meltdown II - the festival of extreme Ukulele from Arto Polus on Vimeo.

New EP - Breakbeat/Thrash/Concrete
Here is the new CD. There are currently just over half of the 44 limited edition handmade copies left, so you need to be quick if you want one. As usual it's a pay-what-you-like deal. The more you give, the more petrol I can afford to play in new places. And buy a few fine real ales on the way of course. Don't worry I'm not driving.

It has five tracks;

Palm Tight Pass
Rough Cut For A New Disco (Two Cars & A Crop)
Pretty Little Lob
Gone To Get Geese
Adventure Potential

The first three tracks were recorded at home with the help of Mr Robert Glover, who also did the tinkering. Joe appears on tracks two and three with his guitar that he currently can't play because he's done his finger in climbing. Idiot. Everybody point and laugh at Mr Urwin.

So, if you would like one, you can pick one up at one of this week's Bristol gigs, or you can go to Paypal and click on 'send money'. Enter the email address catgreenbike@hotmail.co.uk enter your chosen price and follow instructions. You should have space to put in an address, if not just email it to me and I shall send you one forthwith!
